ABOUT OUSTER Lidar
Ouster invented its digital lidar in 2015 and is a leading manufacturer of high-resolution digital lidar sensors used throughout the industrial automation, smart infrastructure, robotics, and automotive industries. Ouster’s sensors are reliable, compact, affordable and highly customizable, laying the foundation for digital lidar ubiquity. Already hundreds of customers have incorporated Ouster lidar sensors in current products or those in development for imminent commercial release.
Ouster uses semiconductor technology to replace thousands of components in traditional lidar with just two custom designed chips: a single 1 cm2 monolithic laser array chip and another 1 cm2 detector chip. This results in a drop in both manufacturing cost and power consumption, while increasing performance. Because of its standard CMOS architecture, Ouster lidar continues to improve with Moore’s Law. The result is a lidar that is streamlined, compact, and robust, while consuming less power and achieving high performance.
Angus Pacala is the CEO and co-founder of Ouster, Inc. Previously, Angus was the Director of Engineering and co-founder at Quanergy Systems, Inc. and a battery engineer at Amprius, Inc. Angus received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.
Mark Frichtl is the CTO and co-founder of Ouster, Inc. Previously, Mark was an engineer at Quanergy Systems, Inc. working on the design, modeling, and analysis of physical and electronic systems. Mark has held positions at both Palantir Technologies and First Solar, and has a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.S. in Engineering Physics from Stanford University.
Ouster’s latest second-generation digital lidar covers a full range of short-range, medium-range, and long-range lidar products. All products have passed the vehicle-level shock and vibration tests, and their waterproof ratings are IP68 and IP69K. The highest level of existing lidar in the market.
